Rainbow Tumbler by Nicole Pakan

Rainbow AMACO Glaze Layering

The tumbler by Nicole Pakan does resemble a rainbow with its vibrant gradient of colors. The transition from soft yellow and blue-green at the top, through warm reds and oranges in the middle, to deep blues and greens at the base, mirrors the spectrum of a rainbow.

• Clay body: Plainsman M370 white clay
• Glaze Combinations (all AMACO) Glazes from top down in stripes. Each one overlapped the layer below it:
• 3 coats of Textured turquoise
• 2 coats of Oatmeal x2
• 2 coats of Chun plum x2
• 2 coats of Iron Lustre x2
• 2 coats of Textured Turquoise
• 3 coats of Midnight Blue so stable that Nicole uses it as a catcher for the runners
• Inside: Oatmeal, but Nicole prefers Iron Yellow as a liner
• Fired to cone 5.5-6
