Northern Lights combo Mug by Sara Hale Bates

Handbuilt from porcelain, this mug captures the quiet magic of a winter night. Bands of deep indigo and teal drift across the surface like northern lights over a dark horizon, blending into an inky Obsidian base. Soft, glossy runs give the glaze a sense of motion, while the rounded handle and smooth rim make each sip a slow, luminous pleasure.

A favorite in contemporary pottery studios, the Northern Lights glaze combo is known for its dynamic, one-of-a-kind flow. Using AMACO Obsidian, Indigo Float, Smokey Merlot, and Seaweed, each firing reveals new rhythms of color, layered drips, and subtle transitions that can never be repeated exactly the same way.
