Why This Combination Works

Blue Lagoon provides the dominant blue foundation in this combination. Applied over a base of Satin Matte Blue/Green, it creates a rich blue surface that remains visible across much of the lower section of the tumbler.

Iron Lustre is then applied as a band around the upper portion of the piece and on the interior. Rather than covering the underlying glazes completely, Iron Lustre introduces darker metallic tones that interact with the blue layers beneath. During firing, these darker tones soften and break into the surrounding glaze, creating areas of contrast and visual depth.
