February 7, 2024March 16, 2026 MAYCO Unicorn combo Toni Cipolla Stewart Colorful MAYCO Unicorn Combo Vase by Toni Cipolla Stewart The Mayco Unicorn Combo Vase is a vibrant mid-fire glaze technique that creates dreamy, flowing color transitions reminiscent of a unicorn palette. This pottery finish combines several Mayco Colors glazes layered in loose, random splotches to allow the glazes to blend naturally during firing. Applied on Standard 240G clay, the combination of Norse Blue, Raspberry Mist, Lavender Mist, and Frosted Lemon produces a playful surface full of soft purples, blues, pinks, and warm yellow highlights. The result is a whimsical ceramic vase with organic movement and beautiful glaze interaction. To achieve this unicorn-style pottery finish, apply three coats of each glaze color in scattered patches so the colors overlap and melt together in the kiln. After the base colors are applied, add a single coat of Light Flux to the upper third of the piece to encourage additional movement and subtle color blending. When fired to cone 6, the glazes soften and flow into each other, creating a luminous, painterly surface that makes each piece unique. This glaze combination is perfect for potters who enjoy colorful mid-fire effects and expressive glaze layering techniques.
