July 7, 2026July 7, 2026 Seaweed and Arctic Blue over Bougainvillea This beautiful glaze combination by Mireille Hermans demonstrates another creative variation of the Frozen Pond Technique. Seaweed and Arctic Blue over Bougainvillea is a beautiful Frozen Pond glaze combination created by Mireille Hermans. A base of Spectrum Bougainvillea provides a soft pink foundation. Small dots of Running Hot Chowder create the characteristic floating movement, followed by loose swirls of Seaweed and a generous application of Arctic Blue over the upper portion of the cup. Together, Seaweed and Arctic Blue over Bougainvillea produce soft, flowing transitions that make this layered glaze combination especially appealing. During the Cone 5–6 firing, the glazes blend into gentle shades of mint green, aqua blue and soft lavender. The transitions are smooth and organic, with subtle halos and floating patches that make every piece unique. The glossy finish enhances the depth of the layered colors while allowing the layered application to remain visible. Seaweed and Arctic Blue over Bougainvillea is an excellent example of how the Frozen Pond Technique can create soft watercolor-like effects with just a few carefully layered glazes.
