Pastel Purple and Pink Spectrum floating glazes Geo Cup by Lola Riley

Spectrum Floating glazes on porcelain

Spectrum floating glazes on porcelain by Lola Riley featuring Lavender Mist, Tiger’s Eye, Bougainvillea and Tapenade on a Cone 6 geometric porcelain cup.

Lola Riley created this faceted porcelain geo cup using a layered combination of Mayco Lavender Mist, Mayco Tiger’s Eye, Spectrum Bougainvillea and Tapenade glaze along the lower section of the form. Fired to Cone 6 on porcelain slip cast clay, the surface develops soft lavender haze, warm pink pooling and smoky violet edges that collect naturally along the geometric planes of the cup. The sharp angles of the form help separate the glaze layers visually, allowing each color to shift independently across the surface during firing.

The porcelain body beneath the glaze gives the colors unusual clarity and brightness. In this Spectrum floating glazes on porcelain combination, Lavender Mist creates the pale atmospheric base while Tiger’s Eye introduces darker movement around the upper edges and folds of the geometry. Spectrum Bougainvillea contributes warm pink tones that gather softly toward the center panels of the cup. Tapenade at the bottom anchors the palette with muted earthy contrast and prevents the lighter glazes from appearing overly delicate.

This example of Spectrum floating glazes on porcelain demonstrates how layered mid-fire glazes behave differently on sharply faceted forms than on traditional rounded pottery. Every edge catches glaze thickness in a slightly different way, creating variation from panel to panel across the cup. Fired to Cone 6 oxidation, Lola Riley’s porcelain geo cup balances pastel color, crystalline softness and architectural structure in a way that feels both contemporary and handmade.
