Indigo Rain over Lavender Mist by Craig Mealing

Moon Jar Featuring MAYCO’s Indigo Rain over Lavender Mist

This Moon Jar by Craig Mealing features a flowing, textured glaze effect created using MAYCO’s Indigo Rain over Lavender Mist and, fired to cone 6. The rounded form (Moon Jar) is wrapped in soft layers of lavender and deep blue, with vertical streaks that resemble falling rain or melting ice.

The two glazes interact beautifully – MAYCO Indigo Rain provides depth with rich violet-blues, while MAYCO Lavender Mist softens the surface with a pale, misty overlay. Together, they create a gentle cascade of color with subtle movement and a glossy finish.

A warm, earthy break around the rim adds contrast, highlighting the hand-thrown form. The result is a calm, atmospheric piece that feels both natural and refined.
