May 18, 2025June 8, 2026 Emerald Falls over Honey Flux by Annie Bom A Classic Cone 6 Glaze Combination on White Stoneware This bowl by Annie Bom demonstrates the popular Emerald Falls over Honey Flux glaze combination on Standard 240 white clay. Fired to Cone 6, the layered glazes create flowing transitions between soft cream, turquoise, green, and subtle blue tones. The movement of the glaze follows the contours of the bowl, producing natural variation from rim to foot. Honey Flux serves as the base layer, applied in two coats across the entire piece. A band of Emerald Falls was then brushed around the rim, allowing the glaze to flow downward during firing. Where the two glazes overlap, gentle color blending appears, creating areas of pale aqua, sea green, and lighter translucent highlights. How Emerald Falls over Honey Flux Behaves One reason potters enjoy Emerald Falls over Honey Flux is the way the combination develops depth without becoming muddy or overly active. Honey Flux encourages movement and pooling, while Emerald Falls contributes rich green tones with occasional hints of blue. On white stoneware, the result often resembles flowing water, mineral deposits, or weathered coastal colors. This bowl demonstrates the combination particularly well. The interior features a soft radial pattern where the glazes gather toward the center, while the exterior displays elegant runs that highlight the shape of the form. Although some blue undertones are visible in person, they are difficult to capture fully in photographs.
