Pink Glaze by Craig Mealing

Ceramic artist Craig Mealing created a distinctive pink glaze by layering MAYCO Amaryllis over Rose Quartz, resulting in a surface that feels both soft and richly complex. The base of Rose Quartz, applied in two coats, provides a gentle blush tone, while a single top coat of Amaryllis introduces delicate speckling and subtle variations of warm pink and lavender.

Fired to 1240°C on B17C white stoneware, the glaze develops a glossy, slightly pearlescent finish that enhances the depth and movement of color. The interaction between the layers gives each piece a unique character, balancing refinement with an organic, handcrafted feel.

Mealing’s pink glaze exemplifies how thoughtful glaze combinations can transform simple forms into elegant, expressive works of ceramic art.
