Honey Flux over Storm is an AMACO glaze combination that produces soft transitions between deep blue, turquoise, and cream tones. Created by Jonathan Jon, this handmade mug demonstrates how a small amount of Honey Flux can transform the surface of Storm, adding movement and subtle variation without overwhelming the base glaze.Storm provides the dark blue foundation, while Honey Flux encourages gentle flowing effects during firing. The interaction between the two glazes creates a natural transition from darker areas near the base to lighter tones toward the rim.

How Honey Flux over Storm Develops During Firing

At Cone 6, Honey Flux begins to move across the surface and interacts with the Storm glaze underneath. The result is a layered appearance with soft color breaks, pale blue highlights, and subtle pooling where the glaze gathers.This combination works especially well on mugs and other functional pottery, where the vertical walls allow the glaze to develop gradual transitions and visual depth.
