Iron Lustre over Running Hot Chowder over Firebrick Iron Lustre over Running Hot Chowder over Firebrick is a layered Cone 6 glaze combination demonstrated on white stoneware. The piece begins with three coats of Firebrick as the base glaze. Small Running Hot Chowder dots are then applied before additional layers of Iron Lustre and Seaweed are added. During firing, the localized Running Hot Chowder spots become active, helping create the rounded pools and distinctive “dragon scale” appearance visible on the finished surface. The textured clay enhances glaze movement and emphasizes the rounded patterns created during firing. Because several glazes interact at the same time, every firing will produce slightly different results depending on glaze thickness, application, clay body, and kiln conditions.
