February 16, 2024December 17, 2025 Honey Flux Over Celadons by Joanne Vukman Drippy Rainbow Striped Mug by Joanne Vukman The piece was made using Laguna Buff clay. The bottom quarter of the mug and the handle were glazed with three coats of AMACO Celadon Fog, with the interior finished by pouring the same glaze. The upper three-quarters feature horizontal stripes of AMACO celadon glazes applied from top to bottom: Mulberry, Snapdragon, Tangelo, Marigold, Pear, and Storm, with a possible additional band of Mulberry near the lower edge. The stripes were applied without deliberate overlap. Two coats of AMACO Albany Slip Brown were applied along the junctions where the celadon stripes meet, resulting in uneven lines due to the difficulty of achieving thin applications. A single light coat of AMACO Honey Flux was applied over the entire surface, and the mug was fired to cone 6. This handcrafted mug features a striking gradient of color, blending vibrant reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and blues in a flowing, layered pattern. Soft transitions and dynamic textures create a sunset-inspired look that feels both warm and tranquil. The smooth form and natural finish make it as functional as it is beautiful – perfect for bringing a touch of color and artistry to everyday moments.
