Pastel Bowl with Spectrum Floating over Pearl White

Spectrum Floating over Pearl White creates a soft watercolor effect with gentle transitions between pink, lavender, blue, cream, and warm golden tones. This layered combination produces flowing movement across the surface while allowing each glaze to blend naturally into the next.

This bowl was made by Joani Goldwasser Feiner on Laguna B-Mix clay and fired to Cone 5.5 using the Camille Hoffman firing schedule.

How Spectrum Floating over Pearl White Works

Pearl White provides a bright, glossy foundation that softens the stronger colors applied over it. Spanish Moss introduces cool blue-green accents, while Papaya, Shallot, and Ginger create warm floral shades that blend together during firing.

Instead of producing hard color boundaries, the glazes melt into one another, creating delicate gradients and a hand-painted appearance. The folds of the bowl further enhance the movement, making every section slightly different.

Firing Results

Fired to Cone 5.5, the glaze combination develops a smooth glossy surface with excellent color variation. The result is a light pastel palette that ranges from soft pinks and lavenders to pale blues and warm cream tones.

Because several reactive glazes are layered together, every firing produces slightly different transitions, making each piece unique.
