These charming test pieces by Megan Grimm<\/strong> explore the unique crackle texture of AMACO Kiln Ice glazes<\/strong>. Applied over Bmix clay<\/strong> and fired to Cone 6 with a 5-minute hold<\/strong>, the glazes reveal soft, translucent colors with a distinct crystalline surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Megan tested three Kiln Ice shades: pink<\/strong>, yellow<\/strong>, and green<\/strong>. One test piece was coated over a dark engobe<\/strong>, which slightly affected the color tone and surface response. Despite some minor pinholing<\/strong> on the pink and yellow samples\u2014likely due to applying five thick coats<\/strong>\u2014the overall results were smooth and visually pleasing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each piece showcases the signature cracked glaze effect of Kiln Ice, catching the light and enhancing the gentle color variations. These glazes are perfect for subtle, elegant surfaces with a hint of texture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
