This twisted vase is just 3x Palladium. I glazed only the outside of this one to avoid bubbles. The shine produced by the glaze is fabulous. Valentine’s B17C buff stoneware clay fired to cone 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was fired in a school kiln<\/strong>, so it wasn\u2019t fully under my control. From what I understand, the stoneware program runs at about 126\u00b0C\/hour<\/strong> up to 1260\u00b0C<\/strong>, with a 10-minute soak<\/strong> at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s definitely worth doing a test tile<\/strong> with your clay + kiln combo, since results can vary. We\u2019ve had pretty consistent results on our buff stoneware<\/strong>, but it looked very different on black clay<\/strong>\u2014more like an antique mirror<\/strong> than the high-shine finish in my photo\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also used it the other day on a horrendous re-glaze and it did cover up some of the glaze underneath, it does tend to have pin holes, so be careful with application and firing. I have fired it to 1200 (celsius) with good results and on the re-fire I glazed it at 1185 and held at 20 min, a trick for reglazing to get rid of pinholes. best of luck, its a beautiful glaze if you are after that effect” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n” I love it, it runs alot. I gave it two layers and stopped half way on the item. It does not play well with others, but I used it like “light flux” from Mayco on a natural color glazes ( only a thin line on the egde).

\n\n“I had to refire this piece. Palladium requires 4-5 coats and I used 3 originally, and the surface was irregular with pinholes on the seams. But with 4-5 coats, including some mirror black along the seams ( which covered the pinholes) it ran. If I used it again, I might use an engobe at the bottom of my pot. I used black underglaze here anticipating running since it is a persnickety glaze”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
