August 5, 2025November 6, 2025 Bold and Beautiful Rainbow Unicorn Combo Unicorn Mug by Elinor Hess Elinor Hess shared this beautiful Rainbow Unicorn Combo on Iceman clay, fired to Cone 6. She started with three coats of AMACO Smokey Merlot on the bottom third of the piece, creating a deep, rich base. For the top third, she applied three coats of AMACO Iron Lustre, adding a warm, earthy tone. In the middle section, she used two coats of Spectrum Sangria, slightly overlapping both the Smokey Merlot and Iron Lustre to create a soft blended transition between the colors. Finally, she added two coats of AMACO Oatmeal over the Iron Lustre and along the areas where the colors meet. This final layer helps tie everything together, creating a smooth, flowing effect where the glazes melt and interact beautifully during firing.
