May 5, 2025July 21, 2025 Dark Blue Monet Bmix 5 set by Gwen Gerber-Sandau Featuring MAYCO’s Night Moth over Cenote This striking mug and plate set, made by Gwen Gerber-Sandau with B-Mix 5 clay and fired to Cone 5, features a richly layered surface using Mayco Cenote (2 coats) under Mayco Night Moth (2 coats). The result is a deep, cosmic blend of midnight blue, charcoal black, and glowing golden-brown crystal bursts that resemble star clusters or glowing embers in the dark. The artist didn’t leave a glaze gap but carefully rubbed off some of the crystals before firing, allowing for more control over the patterning and preventing excessive pooling. The overall impression is both earthy and galactic – a dynamic, high-contrast finish with glossy depth and lively texture.
