Ancient Copper and Seaweed over Storm by Myka Jelier

Vase by Myka Jelier

This handcrafted ceramic vase by Myka Jelijer features the striking glaze combination Ancient Copper and Seaweed over Storm, creating depth, contrast, and controlled movement across the surface. Thrown in Laguna B-Mix clay, the form provides a clean backdrop for layered color and glaze interaction.

The upper collar is finished with multiple layers of Ancient Copper, developing a rich metallic tone that transitions downward into Storm, a deep blue base glaze. Over this, AMACO Seaweed is applied from the collar to midway down the vessel, producing an organic, dripping effect where the glazes overlap and melt together in the kiln.

Fired to cone 5, this glaze combination results in a glossy, durable finish with strong visual presence. Ancient Copper and Seaweed over Storm emphasizes vertical movement, surface variation, and the natural flow of glaze, making each vase a one-of-a-kind functional artwork.
