November 28, 2023January 9, 2026 Glowing Combo by Zahava Friedman Two sgraffito bowls by Zahava Friedman Here we see a striking pair of handcrafted sgraffito ceramic bowls by Zahava Friedman with writhing snakes carved into it, and coated on the inside with a glowing turquoise glaze combination that balance bold surface design. Thrown from Laguna B Mix clay, each bowl features an exterior coated in deep black underglaze, meticulously carved with flowing, snake-like patterns that reveal the clay beneath. Inside, the bowls glow with a rich turquoise glaze combination, layered to create depth, movement, and a glassy, light-catching finish. The contrast between the matte, textured exterior and the vibrant interior gives the pieces a sense of quiet drama-both grounded and radiant. Fired to cone 6 in a community kiln, these bowls celebrate process, precision, and the beauty of layered surfaces. They function equally well as art objects or utilitarian vessels, inviting everyday use while showcasing thoughtful craftsmanship and expressive ceramic techniques.
