Glaze Chips Over Honey Flux is a playful Cone 6 glaze combination that transforms simple glaze fragments into colorful bursts of movement and texture. Created by Kelli Cavanaugh on Laguna 65 clay, this bowl set demonstrates how AMACO Honey Flux can act as a dynamic foundation for layered decoration.

Three coats of Honey Flux provide a glossy, fluid base that encourages other glazes to soften, spread, and blend during firing. Small glaze chips, primarily made from various Stroke & Coat colors, were applied over the surface before firing. As the kiln reached Cone 6, the chips melted into vibrant splashes, dots, and streaks that resemble confetti scattered across the bowls.

One of the most interesting aspects of Glaze Chips Over Honey Flux is the way Honey Flux promotes movement without completely blending the individual colors together. Blues, reds, greens, and other hues remain visible while developing soft edges and subtle transitions. This creates a lively surface full of variation, making each bowl unique.

The light Laguna 65 clay body helps the colors stay bright and clean, allowing the glaze effects to stand out clearly. Potters experimenting with leftover glaze chips may find this technique a fun way to create unexpected combinations while reducing waste.
