Arctic blue, Blue Rutile and Blue Lagoon over Honey Flux by Linda Moeser Ceramics

Beach vibe mug by Linda Moeser Ceramics

AMACO Arctic Blue, Blue Rutile & Blue Lagoon over Honey Flux combo mug combines a calm blue glaze palette with underglaze transfers for a clean, coastal finish.

The glaze concept: shades of blues that melt into each other

The surface starts with Honey Flux as the foundation. Flux glazes are great when you want movement -those gentle fades, pooled edges, and watercolor transitions. Over that, the trio of Arctic Blue, Blue Rutile, and Blue Lagoon adds cool depth: pale sky tones, slightly mottled variation, and richer ocean notes. Together, they create that “sea mist” look—layered, but still calm.

Because the blues sit on top of a more active base, they don’t look flat. Instead, they shift with thickness, overlap, and where the glaze naturally settles during firing.

The beachy bottom: sand without stealing the show

To keep the mug grounded (literally and visually), the bottom is dipped for a sandy contrast – warm and neutral, like shoreline sand under a blue horizon. It’s a smart balance: the eye reads “beach” instantly, but the blues still stay in charge.

The detail that makes it: underglaze transfers

The real charm comes from the sea grass underglaze transfers from Milestone decals. While the glaze layers provide dreamy atmosphere, the transfers add crisp, readable detail—those fine stems that feel like a shoreline sketch. This is one of the most interesting parts of the design: soft, blended color fields + sharp printed lines. You get both the handmade glaze flow and the graphic clarity of illustration on the same piece.

Final look

From far away, it reads as a serene gradient of ocean blues. Up close, the sea grass linework brings the whole “beach vibe” into focus. It’s a clean combination of reactive glaze atmosphere and intentional surface design—exactly the kind of piece that feels peaceful in the hand and interesting the longer you look.
