Rainbow AMACO Celadons by No Brainer Pottery

Rainbow Celadons by No Brainer Pottery

The AMACO Celadons collection is known for its bright transparent colors that allow clay texture and surface details to remain visible after firing. This rainbow-style mug set by No Brainer Pottery demonstrates how the Celadon series can create a wide spectrum of clean, vibrant colors while maintaining the same glossy finish and consistent surface quality.

These test mugs were made on Laguna B-Mix with Speckles clay and glazed with six different AMACO Celadons:

❀️ AMACO Snapdragon
🧑 AMACO Marigold (C-60)
πŸ’› AMACO Deep Yellow
πŸ’š AMACO Pear (C-41)
πŸ’™ AMACO Sky
πŸ’œ AMACO Mulberry (C-57)

Why Potters Like AMACO Celadons

Unlike many opaque glazes, AMACO Celadons remain translucent after firing. This allows carved details, texture, and throwing lines to show through the glaze surface while still providing strong color development.

The series is especially popular for:

  • Functional pottery
  • Mugs and tableware
  • Layering experiments
  • Texture-enhancing decoration
  • Consistent Cone 5–6 results

Color Development on Laguna B-Mix

The photographs show how each glaze develops on the same clay body, making it easier to compare color response across the Celadon range.

Warm tones such as Marigold and Deep Yellow produce bright cheerful surfaces, while Pear and Sky create fresh green and blue tones. Mulberry introduces a rich purple accent, and Snapdragon offers a vibrant red-pink hue rarely seen in stable mid-fire glazes.

Because all pieces share the same clay body and firing conditions, the set serves as a useful visual reference for potters choosing colors for future projects.

Final Thoughts

This AMACO Celadons test set by No Brainer Pottery is an excellent demonstration of the versatility of the Celadon series. By using the same form, clay body, and firing conditions, the collection highlights the unique character of each glaze while showing how easily the colors can be combined into coordinated pottery collections.
