Fairy Rose over Honey Flux Creates Soft Pink Layering

This delicate bowl by Amanda McLennan demonstrates how Coyote Fairy Rose over Honey Flux can transform a simple glaze base into a surface rich with subtle variation. Made from Amaco 48 Speckled clay (no grog) and fired to Cone 6, the piece combines soft pink tones with warm highlights that gather around the rim. The rounded form provides a quiet canvas for the glaze combination, allowing color transitions and fine surface details to remain the focus.

The glaze application begins with AMACO Honey Flux applied as the base layer. Around the rim, Coyote Archie’s Base introduces warm brown accents that gently frame the upper edge of the bowl. Two coats of Coyote Fairy Rose are then applied over the surface, creating a palette of blush pink, pale coral, and creamy white tones. During firing, the glazes interact to produce soft transitions rather than sharp boundaries, giving the bowl depth and visual movement.

Fairy Rose Glaze on Speckled Clay

The speckled clay body contributes subtle texture beneath the glaze, adding character without overwhelming the surface. Small variations in thickness allow Fairy Rose to break differently across curves and edges, creating natural shifts in color and transparency.
