November 24, 2025November 24, 2025 SIO-2 Toffee clay We would like to present to you several glaze combinations and finishes on Toffee SIO-2 clay What Toffee from SIO-2 is known for: Warm brown firing color: It matures into a caramel-to-chocolate tone, depending on temperature and glaze thickness. The color is richer and warmer than standard buff or speckled clays. Firing range: Usually cone 5–6 (1200–1240°C), giving reliable mid-range performance. Smooth, fine texture: Very little grog; throws well on the wheel and gives clean edges for functional ware. Excellent glaze response: Transparent and semi-transparent glazes deepen and warm over Toffee. Blues and greens (like Blue Midnight, Textured Turquoise) become more dramatic because of the dark background. Matte blacks and cosmic glazes create sharp, intentional junctions with the clay body. Strength & vitrification: Fires dense and durable when matured; suitable for tableware. Author: Fäb Netzband Everything looks good on this clay, it’s my favorite – so smooth to work with, so lovely with the color I like the combination with mayco lemon meringue, mayco green tea and mayco dark flux very much. It’s glossy, metallic, matte and textured in different parts of the glaze but not food safe though.
