November 19, 2025June 6, 2026 AMACO Kiln Ice on Sio-2 Toffe by Sabine Servos Lernbilder AMACO Kiln Ice Samples The AMACO Kiln Ice on Sio-2 Toffe combination by Sabine Servos highlights the quiet beauty of crackle glaze on warm-toned stoneware. Applied over Sio-2 Toffe clay and fired with a carefully controlled schedule, AMACO Kiln Ice develops a network of fine cracks across the surface, creating a pattern similar to frozen ponds at the end of winter. The pale blue glaze settles evenly over the clay while the exposed edges reveal touches of the rich caramel body beneath, framing the cool surface with natural contrast. What makes this combination memorable is the conversation between glaze and clay. The soft blue of Kiln Ice carries hints of mist, water, and weathered glass, while the warm Toffe body brings depth and balance to the piece. Fired to approximately Cone 3–4 (around 1150–1200°C) with a controlled cooling cycle, the glaze forms a dense crackle texture that covers the entire surface. These sample boards demonstrate how a single glaze can produce a refined decorative finish when paired with the right clay body and firing program.
