October 16, 2025October 28, 2025 Stoneware Frozen pond bowl by Amy Hamson Frozen Pond This stoneware bowl by Amy Hamson was glazed using the Frozen Pond technique, which creates a layered surface reminiscent of ice or frost. The rim features deep raspberry tones that gradually blend into a cool bluish interior with a soft, semi-crystalline texture. As the glazes melt and interact during firing, they form rounded, cell-like patterns that resemble frozen bubbles beneath the surface of a pond. The glossy finish enhances the effect, shifting subtly in color from red to violet to blue-gray, depending on the light. 2 x layers of Mayco Raspberry Mist all over 2 x layers of Spectrum Textured Chowder in dots all over 2 x layers of Amaco’s Iron Lustre all over Fired to cone 5 in an electric Skutt kiln.
