Ancient Jasper over Light Sepia by Lisa Brauman

Vase by Lisa Brauman, featuring Ancient Jasper over Light Sepia

This handbuilt vase, crafted from Keane Dark Matter clay, is finished with a layered glaze combination of AMACO Ancient Jasper over Light Sepia (two coats). The firing produces a dramatic surface where the Ancient Jasper over Light Sepia creates rich variegation — shifting from warm golden-browns into deep earthy reds and mossy greens. The overlap brings out textured, almost crystalline breaks that cascade down into the exposed clay at the base, highlighting the natural character of the dark stoneware. The result is a striking, organic surface reminiscent of a landscape horizon.
